Sonnet is poem with fourteen lines of iambic pentameter. It has been classified into groups based on rhyme scheme. There are many types of sonnet as the Italian sonnet. It divided to two section by different group of rhyming sounds. The first 8 lines is call the octave rhymes abbaabba. It has two ideas in one poem.  The remaining 6 lines is called sestet and can have two or three rhyme sound, arranged in different of way  cdcdcd, cddcdc, cdeced, cdcedc. The other type of sonnet is call Shakespearean. It divided 3 quatrains of alternating rhyme and couplet. Its rhyme scheme is abab cdcd efef gg. It has one idea at whole of poem. In this an essay, I will choose Italian and Shakespearean sonnet and I will analysis them.
Sonnet 30 of  Edmund Spenser
This poem is Shakespeare, because of its structure. It is about man who has desire to be with woman who has no interest in him. The man refer to fire and the woman to ice. The poet explained that the more the man shows affection and love to woman, the more the woman loses interest for man. The man is asking why his burning love for her is not melting her heart or why showing his affection for her is not attracting the woman. Perhaps the most important lines in the sonnet are the last two lines, ''Such is the power of love in gentle mind, that it can alter all the course of kind''. These lines can be paraphrased as, ''That is the nature of passionate love, that it can change the natural state of everything''. The word ''miraculous'' in line 9 was used to describe the unfortunate realities of their love which is not working out. The last 2 lines conclude that the nature of love has the power to change natural occurrences such as fire melting ice.
The literature devices
1-He uses simile in(my love is like to ice and to fire)
2-He uses imagery in (or how comes it that may exceeding…)
3-He uses alliteration in (how come it then that this her…)
When I Consider How My light Is Spent(Italian Sonnet)
In this poem, the poet describes how he is living his life in (winde) world which is dark, because of loss of his sight. He enjoyed writing and his blindness present him much of difficulty. However his faith kept him strong. Then, He will serve his Maker no matter how he is suffering as he will have to present to Him a "true account" of his life. He will do this in case he is chided when he returns to God and is asked if he carried on with his day to day life even without his eyesight. After that, he answer his own question by saying that God will not need man's work or gifts, because he served by 1000 of Angels. In addition, the Angel served who are patients and waits through all sort of problems that they faced.
The literary devices
1-Alliteration: my days in this dark world and wide (line 2)
2-Metaphor: through  my soul more bent / To serve therewith my Maker (lines 3-4). The author compares his soul to his mind.
3-Personification/Metaphor: But Patience, to prevent
To sum up, Sonnet is short poem with 14 lines and it has many types as Shakespearean which I choose an example of it (Sonnet 30 of Spencer). It talks about man who is love woman and she isn't interest to him. Also, I choose (when I consider how my light is spent sonnet) and it is an example for Italian sonnet. It is about man who is loss his sight and how he is see to the world.
